A place to unwind.

A little dog.  A great big heart...

Madeline Farms was named for our first rescued animal and the love of my life for 15 years. She was a special dog, like so many are,…spending her days chasing the cows, running in the field and taking many, many outdoor naps. We rescued this Lhasa Apso from the DC animal shelter and gave her the best life we could each and every day.

Though I grew up in the city, I have always felt an affinity with animals and a connection to nature. The very first pony born on the farm arrived in August 2018 and was given the farm’s namesake, Madeline. She is the smallest of the ponies and the most outgoing. She is looking forward to meeting our visitors who are 3’ tall, just like her.

This is a working farm. Everyday there are projects to be completed, messes to clean up and a mini animal-crisis to solve. There is mud and poop and wildflowers and weeds and feathery, furry, hairy, creatures big and small. There will be plenty of opportunities to pitch in and plenty more to sit and rock on the front porch. It is truly a farm experience that is one of a kind. Sunrise on the front porch and early mornings with the animals should not be missed. Sunsets are equally majestic and will leave you with a sense of peace in your heart.
